Alan H.B. Wu, Ph.D., is Chief of Clinical Chemistry and Toxicology at San Francisco General Hospital and Professor of Lab Medicine, University of California, San Francisco. He received B.S. degrees in chemistry and biology at Purdue University and a Ph.D. degree in analytical chemistry at the University of Illinois. He completed a postdoctoral fellowship in clinical chemistry at Hartford Hospital. He is certified by the American Board of Clinical Chemistry in Clinical Chemistry and Toxicological Chemistry. His research interests include clinical toxicology, cardiac biomarkers, and point-of-care testing. Dr. Wu has over 500 publications in peer-reviewed journals.

Over a 40-year career, Dr. Ward’s work spans the practice of epidemiology, laboratory science, clinical trials, public health program practice, policy development, health communication, education, and clinical medicine in the prevention and control of HIV/AIDS and the elimination of viral hepatitis. He currently directs the Coalition for Global Hepatitis Elimination of the Task Force for Global Health providing a community of practice for hepatitis elimination programs to collaborate, receive technical assistance, and participate in operational research.
